When choosing a wedding venue, you’ll need to consider a variety of factors, including the venue’s location, size, and style. We will look at the different venue types that prospective couples should consider when planning their special day.
POPULAR TYPES OF WEDDING VENUES
Historic Site
Historic homes or historic buildings, much like Watson Block, offer an innate sense of nostalgia and give off a vintage and classical vibe. These charming historic venues usually feature indoor and outdoor spaces for hosting wedding events, and they also offer a lot of unique opportunities for photos. Watson Block offers all this and much, much more.
Located in the trendy warehouse district, this 1902 fully restored historic landmark offers the perfect balance of historic charm and modern stylings, perfect for wedding events. From black-tie weddings to more casually designed weddings, your guests are sure to be impressed by Watson Block’s charm and beauty on the night of your wedding.
Industrial or Modern Space
Prospective couples who want to express their creativity might enjoy planning an intimate, chic wedding, either in an industrial loft or modern space for their wedding venue. These particular wedding venues display industrial details like exposed ductwork, brick, wood beams, and concrete. Whether it’s lighting, flowers, decor, or more, you can either dress up these modern spaces or dress them down to create the wedding that suits your specific needs and is tailored to your event.
At Watson Block, we have furnished our space with luxe leather couches, an infinity piano, crystal chandeliers, greenery, bold red curtains, and more! Your additions will be complemented by the details of our space.
Romantic
There’s nothing more romantic than proclaiming your love and commitment to one another in front of the most important people in your lives. Whatever your definition of romance, your venue should be a reflection of your love for one another. You may feel your love is from a fairytale or you have a bold and vibrant love. No matter the type, you will want to choose a venue that fits your personal style, budget, and most importantly, your idea of the most romantic space to say your vows.
Our exposed brick, deep red curtains, and stunning crystal chandeliers at Watson Block make for the most romantic backdrop for your wedding. Our space is gorgeous as is and will compliment your personal style and décor, making your day extra memorable.
Intimate
Couples looking to have more of an intimate wedding celebration will want to select a venue that fits their guest list. A venue that is too large for the guest count can feel cavernous and empty. You will want to find the right venue that can accommodate a capacity close to your final count of attendees so it feels nice and full. Weddings are also about the union of your closest friends and family, right? The right size venue will be full enough to encourage your guests to mingle and move about the space. Make sure to choose the venue that’s the perfect fit for you and your guest list.
At Watson Block, we can comfortably seat 120 for a seated reception. If you’re planning for a cocktail-style reception, we can accommodate 150 in our space.
Convenient
Choose a venue that is most convenient for your guests. Convenience can mean a range of things! It can mean the physical location of your venue is close in distance but it can also mean so much more for your guests. Finding a venue where there are several hotels nearby, access to parking, and even a great place to grab breakfast the next morning are also what makes a venue convenient. This isn’t always easy especially if you have guests traveling from long distances but try to make it most convenient for the majority of your attendees.
At Watson Block, we’re located in the North Loop District of Minneapolis. We are just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown but we have the best of both worlds. We have several hotels nearby, there are parking ramps available for your guests to use, otherwise, we can connect you with a valet service if you want to make parking extra convenient. Plus, we’re nestled in a spot within walking distance to the best restaurants in Minnesota!
